The Integral Port Administration of La Paz, announced the projection of a cruise terminal which will be ready by the end of 2021
“IT WILL BE THE ONLY ONE IN THE MEXICAN PACIFIC AND IN WHICH PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE REGARDING THE BIDDING AND CONTRACTING OF AN INTERNATIONAL COMPANY THAT WILL CARRY OUT THIS WORK.”
José López Soto, head of the Integral Port Administration of La Paz, stressed that they carried out in February this year, the steps to open an international tender for the installation and creation of a cruise terminal, considering that the tender will not yield the desired results due to the pandemic, which was contrary due to investors kept pushing the project.
“AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH, THE CONTRACT WAS AWARDED TO AN INTERNATIONAL COMPANY THAT WILL BE STARTING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TERMINAL THIS YEAR, THAT IS, IN MID-JANUARY, THE CREATION OF THIS PORT WILL BEGIN AND AN INVESTMENT OF CLOSE TO ONE BILLION PESOS, SO FOR NEXT YEAR THE ARRIVAL OF CRUISE SHIPS IS SCHEDULED AT THIS TERMINAL, THAT IS, AT THE END OF 2021, BEGINNING OF 2022 ”.
HE COMMENTED THAT IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT PORT PROJECT, “WE ARE GOING TO BE THE FIRST CRUISE TERMINAL IN THE MEXICAN PACIFIC, THERE IS NOT A CRUISE TERMINAL IN THE ENTIRE PACIFIC LIKE THE ONE WE ARE GOING TO HAVE IN THE PORT OF PICHILINGUE.”
LIKEWISE, HE SAID THAT IN A MEETING WITH THE INVESTOR, “THE PROJECT IS SCHEDULED TO BE FORMALLY LAUNCHED IN MID-FEBRUARY, WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WORK IN WHICH THIS PROJECT FOR BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR HAS ALREADY BEGUN,” HE CONCLUDED.
