Loreto’s tempting takeover travel program

Loreto’s tempting takeover travel program

If you are like us, you are craving an escape just about now. Warm, turquoise water, white sand beaches and wide-open spaces – a real vacation! But safe and close, too, of course. If that sounds like it would hit the spot, consider Loreto, a small beachfront city in Baja California Sur. Only a quick two-hour direct flight on Volaris over the Cross Border Xpress, it’s the ideal destination for today’s much needed holiday.

To welcome visitors while ensuring safety, Loreto has created a program called One Week Takeover in which families and quarantine pods can take over one of the destination’s many boutique hotels, some with as few as four guest rooms. Guests get to enjoy the entire property safely and privately without sharing spaces or amenities. The hotels are all independently run by owners who take pride in showing guests the best of Loreto and many include dining and tour programs as part of their takeovers. In between each set of visitors, hotels will be fully sanitized.

With more cacti than people, Loreto’s sparsely populated city is surrounded by beautiful contrasts in the environment. Nestling the calm waters of the Gulf of California and surrounded by a combination of desert and mountains it is a nature lovers paradise. Along with six offshore islands in the Gulf, Loreto has been designated as a protected national marine park and recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The Gulf is known to be one of the world’s most diverse marine life settings making it ideal for sportfishing, whale watching, diving, snorkeling and more. On land hiking, mountain biking, sand boarding, ATV adventures and exploring historic missions, ancient cave paintings and more await.

However, while all the diversions are appealing, safety is most important. Loreto’s hotels, restaurants, tour operators and public spaces are observing national safety protocols for social distancing and hygiene practices. Loreto is also a recipient of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) global safety stamp of approval in recognition of its safe travels protocols.

So if you are in need of action and adventure or relaxation and tranquility (or a combination of both), Loreto’s #OneWeekTakeover might be just the ticket.
